This is a weather-check weekend.

This one is arriving a day late, so the useful filter is simple: choose the plan that still works if storms move through. Friday and Saturday have the big early Independence options. Saturday also has the usual summer run of Tarara, polo, and Leesburg music. Sunday is better for a slower reset unless the afternoon storm chance changes.

Start here

№ 01
Friday

Star Spangled Sterling

Official details

This is the clean Friday pick if you want an early Independence event without driving west. Loudoun County lists food vendors, DJ Greenzie, a Loudoun United FC FanZone, kids activities, and fireworks, which makes it the broadest family plan on Friday if the weather cooperates.

Free county event. Loudoun County lists no rain date for this fireworks show.

№ 02
Saturday

What a Blast at Hanson Park

Official details

This is the biggest all-in Saturday family plan. The county schedule includes food trucks, a Kids Zone, Todd Brooks and The Pour Decisions, The Legwarmers, and fireworks, so it works best if you want one destination instead of hopping between small stops.

Free county event. Parking opens at 4:00 PM and is available until 8:00 PM or capacity. The fireworks-only rain date is Sunday, June 28.

№ 03
Saturday

Groovalicious at Tarara Summer Concert Series

Official details

Tarara is the ticketed Saturday night choice if you want the evening to feel like a full summer plan. Groovalicious gives this week a 70s disco tilt, which is more of a bring-a-chair-and-settle-in move than a quick stop.

Ticketed. Tarara says concerts are rain or shine, bands and food trucks can change, outside alcohol is not permitted, and all ticket sales are final.

№ 04
Saturday

Polo in the Park at Morven Park

Official details

Polo is still the classic Loudoun summer-night option if you want a picnic-style evening around the arena. The public Morven Park page confirms June 27 as one of this season's dates, but with Saturday storms in the forecast, verify the event status and timing before leaving.

Ticketed. Morven Park says passes, tailgates, and rail boxes are non-refundable and not transferable unless the event is canceled because of inclement weather.

№ 05
Sunday

Dirt Farm Summer Sundays with Rasta Alchemist

Official details

Use this as the slower Sunday plan if the afternoon weather holds. Dirt Farm lists Rasta Alchemist for its Summer Sundays live music series, plus lobster rolls Friday through Sunday while they last, so it gives you food, a view, and music without making the day too complicated.

Dirt Farm lists Sunday hours from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with last call 30 minutes before closing.

Also worth knowing

01

Leesburg Summer JAMS: Mackenzie Ryan

Saturday

The free downtown music option if you want dinner plus a short concert instead of a larger ticketed evening.

02

Leesburg Saturday Farmers Market

Saturday

The practical Saturday morning move before the afternoon and evening weather decisions start stacking up.

03

Dirt Farm Hiking Meet-Up

Saturday

A 3.5-mile group hike on the Dirt Farm trails if you want to get outside before the evening event crush.

04

Dead on the Mountain at Dirt Farm

Saturday

A more specific Saturday night pick for the Grateful Dead crowd, with Elixer of Life on the mountain.

Three ways to plan it

01

If you want fireworks

Pick one county event and build the evening around it: Star Spangled Sterling on Friday, or What a Blast at Hanson Park on Saturday. Watch the forecast before packing the chairs.

02

If Saturday storms are the deciding factor

Keep Saturday flexible. Summer JAMS, Tarara, polo, and Dirt Farm all depend on event status, comfort with rain, or both.

03

If you want a slower Sunday

Start with a late morning reset, then use Dirt Farm for music and lobster rolls only if the afternoon storm chance stays reasonable.
