A late-weekend guide for what is still worth doing.

Saturday, July 25 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM; carnival opens at 11:00 AM Loudoun County Fairgrounds, Leesburg

The fair is the biggest local thing still on the board. Go for animals, carnival rides, fair food, the petting zoo, bluegrass in the Music Tent, Grapes and Grain, and the 8:00 PM demolition derby if you want the loud Saturday-night finish.

Admission is required. The fair lists adult one-day online tickets at $16.50, kids 6-12 at $5.75, and age 5 and under free. Adult gate tickets rise to $20 after 5:00 PM. Parking is $5 cash in person or $5.50 online. No pets except service animals.

Saturday, July 25; gates at 5:00 PM, show from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM Shadow Lake at Tarara, Leesburg

This is the easiest outdoor music pick if you want familiar summer songs and a picnic-concert feel. The band covers Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney, and Zac Brown Band, which fits the lake setting about as cleanly as anything on this week's calendar.

Tarara lists concerts as rain or shine. Online general admission is $20 for guests 21 and older and $10 for guests under 21, plus fees and tax. No outside alcohol is permitted.

Saturday, July 25 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM Morven Park International Equestrian Center, Leesburg

Polo is the more relaxed Saturday-night alternative to the fair. You still get a crowd, food vendors, and something that feels distinctly Loudoun, but with more tailgate energy than carnival energy.

Morven Park says Polo passes, tailgates, and rail boxes are nonrefundable unless Polo in the Park is canceled because of inclement weather.

Saturday, July 25 at 7:00 PM Town Green, 25 West Market Street, Leesburg

Mostly Fab brings Beatles favorites to the free Town Green series. This is the low-cost downtown plan if you want to bring a chair, keep dinner nearby, and avoid committing to a full ticketed night.

The town says Summer JAMS concerts are free, begin at 7:00 PM, and are canceled in bad weather. No smoking or pets are allowed.

Saturday or Sunday, July 25-26 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Great Country Farms, Bluemont

Great Country Farms says the sunflower fields are still in peak viewing and cutting through July 26. This is the best Sunday morning move: wagon ride, cut a few blooms, let the kids use the farm play area, then get out before afternoon storms are more likely.

Arrive by 3:30 PM for the last wagon ride at 4:00 PM. Sunflowers are $1 per bloom plus farm admission. Weekend gate admission is $16 per guest over age 3.
